Lierse drew 1-1 at Turnhout on Tuesday evening in their 6th pre-season match for the 2008-09 season.
The coaching staff rested the players who played the whole match on Sunday against Dender, so there was a whole new starting eleven.
For Turnhout, Lierse loan player Develer started the match, he was replaced a quarter of an hour from the end by Omar Rabie, another player under contract at Lierse.

In a good end to end first half it was Lierse who quickly took the lead after triallist Skokri was able to profit from a bad back pass, and coolly made it 0-1. Turnhout equalised on the half hour from a nice shot from Janssens.

In the second half there were fewer chances, and the match became more bitty. A weak referee denied Lierse a cast iron penalty after a blatant foul on Rimkus.

Lierse fielded three triallists during the match against Turnhout.
Donnie Arthur: the Nigerian striker got a second opportunity after playing for half the match vs Dender, but disappointed.
Islam Skokry: A 25-yr old Egyptian striker, who previously played for, amongst others, Arab Contracters. He scored the only Lierse goal of the game, and played a decent first half.
Daye Prince: A 30-yr old French-Liberian striker, made a moderate impression

Michel Nkuman, the young Angolan striker who has played in several of Lierse’s pre-season matches, picked up a serious injury in the match at Turnhout last night.
Nkuman suffered the injury just before the final whistle, after a duel with a Turnhout defender. A first diagnosis from the Lierse medical staff at the scene indicated a cruciate ligament tear and kneecap injury, which will keep Nkuman out of action for 6 months. Nkuman was immediately taken to hospital, where a definitive diagnosis will be made.

Lierse play their penultimate pre-season friendly this evening away to KV Turnhout. Kick off is at 20.00.
Eight of the players who played the full match against Dender on Thursday will not feature tonight (Buyens, Cavens, De Witte, De Graef, Dreesen, Frans, Nedzipi and Tshiala), and they will follow a running session.
Newcomer Kujovic is also absent this evening. De Corte (ankle) and Peeters (achilees) are still injured. Triallist Arthur gets a second chance. For Turnhout, Lierse loan players Develer, Smet and Omar are in the squad.

As is already known, Peter Utaka is trying to get his release to play. On Thursday there will be a meeting of the performance committee of the KBVB (Belgian FA), in which this case is on the agenda.

The stadium of FC De Kempen in Tielen was well filled when Lierse played tonight against first division team Dender, where a lot of players didn’t play and rested. The Pallieters took the initiative but they didn’t get chances in the first half. The visitors didn’t play much better, but the boys out of the Dender region came in front. Already after 8 minutes the score was 0-1. Dender took a corner and the Lierse defense let Wittersaele score with the head. Lierse had tot wiat until 20 minute before the end to equalize. Cavens was the man of the reparation in the midfield, he gave the ball to a strong playing Garry De Graef , who came inside, dribbled his opponent and equalized with a shot in the short corner. A correct endscore.

The match in the EXQi-League between Antwerp and Lierse will be played on Sunday 31th of August at 15.00 instead of Saturday 30th of August

Lierse has bought the Serbian Vladan Kujovic as the new goalkeeper. Kujovic is born at the 23th of August 1978 in Nisch (Yugoslavia). He started his career at Radnicki
Nisch and came then to eendracht Aalst in 1999. There he played until 2002. In his last season there, he was chosen by the fans as ‘Player of the year’. In 2002
Kujovic went to Roda JC in Holland. After the season 2006-2007, Dender tried to get him to Belgium, but Kujovic choose for the Spanish Primera Division team Levante.
Levante descended tot the second division and now Kujovic comes to Lierse.
