After the Tubize match several players are suffering from slight injuries. Ahmed Samir suffered a kick on the achilles tendon, Chris Janssens had to have stitches on a wound above the eyebrow, and Charlie Miller had discomfort from a knee in the back. The availability of these three players for the match at Beveren (Saturday) is not in doubt though. This match does come too early though for Mohammed Wahed and Lorenzo Rimkus, both out with hamstring injuries. Rimkus can hope on a return for the match at home to Eupen on Saturday week (12/04). Christophe Meyers suffered a slight thigh injury at the beginning of the week, and followed an individual training programme on Thursday. Kane Develer is back with the squad after illness.
Seth De Witte is available again on Saturday after suspension, Petar Bojovic (sent off vs. Tubize) and Jerome Vanderzijl (3 bookings) are suspended.

The match was barely ten seconds old when Tubize were dangerous through the clean through Njock, Van der Jeugt intervened. After five minutes David Vandenbroeck headed home at the far post from a corner for the visitors - 0-1. Lierse obviously were having difficulty with a Tubize team playing good combination football. The home team only created sporadic chances. On the half hour Mununga was able to round van der Jeugt - 0-2. Just before half-time there was a flicker of hope for Lierse when Neels was given a second yellow card for deliberate handball, and Tubize were reduced to 10.
0-2 at the break, and Lierse with the prospect of playing 10 men for the whole of the 2nd half. But Lierse had trouble creating any chances. The passes were inaccurate, and the spaces were barely used, especially the left flank, where at halftime Ernandes was replaced by Omar Rabie Yassin. Tubize remained dangerous on the counter. For Lierse, if they came close to goal, a post got in the way, or a defender cleared from the line. When 20 minutes from time Bojovic also received a second yellow card, any remaining hope disappeared. Lierse lost an enormously important game in their pursuit of the play-offs.
Lierse:
Van der Jeugt, Vleminckx (Van der Zijl 32′), Janssens, Frans, Buyens, Ernandes (Omar Rabbie 45′), Cavens (Ventose 66′), Ahmed samir, Miller, Jarju
Booked: Bojovic (45′), Van der Zijl (76′), Frans (85′)
Sent Off: Bojovic (68′ - 2 x yellow)
Tubize:
Berghmans, Brouckaert, Vandenbroeck, Gailly, Neels, Mvuezolo (Lambot 86′), Remy, Hernout, Njock
Booked: Remy (28′), Neels (40′), Vandenbroeck(50′)
Sent Off: Neels (40′ - 2 x yellow)

Lierse lost 0-2 at home to title candidate Tubize. It was 0-1 after barely five minutes. From a corner Vandenbroeck directed a good downward header between Van der Jeugt and the post. Lierse had it difficult against strong visitors, and that was confirmed on the half-hour when Mununga made it 0-2. The home team rarely created chances, and when they did the post or the bar got in the way.
Trainer Herman Helleputte saw a weak performance from his team:
“We began very poorly. If you kick off, and after seven seconds Tubize have the first chance, than something is wrong. Five minutes later was Chris (Janssens) temporarily off the pitch, and they profited immediately from that.”
Helleputte also saw a strong opponent:
“The three Tubize forwards posed a constant threat and formed an integral part of a strong team. If then several players from our own team play under par than you know it’ll be difficult.”
But according to the trainer, not only did the team get it wrong:
“I made a mistake myself in the team formation. I’m not saying that we would have won otherwise though. Tubize was just too strong and we played a poor match. When it becomes 0-2 you know that there will be space free. The substitution of Tim (Vleminckx) doesn’t mean that he was the weakest link. Other players could also have been replaced. But we simply were not good enough. Tubize are, accordong to me, title candidates.”
Just like last week the trainer realizes that it’ll be very difficult to reach the play-offs:
“It indeed remains a very difficult task, but we’ll take each match as it comes and see where we end up.”
