beveren.jpgLierse won 0-4 at Beveren on Saturday evening. As a result Lierse moved to within 1 point of Beveren in the table.

Helleputte rang the changes in the team following Wednesday’s home defeat to Tubize, partly due to suspensions (Bojovic and Vanderzijl), but also Ernandes and Vleminckx were consigned to the bench. Omar and De Witte appeared in the starting line-up.

In a moderate first half Lierse scored from their first chance. On the half hour Miller slid home a pass from the returning De Corte. Miller celebrated his goal too enthousiastically according to referee Wouters, was booked, and is subsequently suspended for next week’s game vs Eupen.

Five minutes before the break, Cavens found Samir, who controlled and shot past Deelkens  - 0-2.

The second half was more entertaining, especially from a Lierse perspective, as they created one chance after another. Miller scored his second early in the half after again an assist from Cavens (0-3). The substitute Develer glanced a free kick from Samir past Deelkens (0-4). In between Zito had rightly been red carded for a lunge on De Witte.

So Lierse beat a weak Beveren 0-4, who didn’t create a single chance on goal in the whole match. The score could have been higher, but Lierse neglected to finish off a handful of chances.
