Today the contracts of trainer Herman Helleputte and assistant trainer Eric Van Meir, which were due to run until 2009, were renewed until June 2012.

Leo Theyskens: “Maged Samy and the board of K.Lierse SK are very satisfied with the achievements of our technical staff. We are extending these contracts until  2012, because we want to provide sporting stability. Lierse has a long-term vision, and wants to make the club grow furter, through, amongst other things providing sporting assurances.”

Herman Helleputte and Eric Van Meir also gave a short reaction: “We’re delighted to join in the long-term project of Lierse, and to be able to participate in the development into a big club. We believe very strongly in this ourselves, and will do everything to achieve this. In the first half of the season, it wasn’t easy to put a team together, and now it’s rather the opposite, we now have a huge selection problem, in a positive sense. We’re going to try and do everything possible this season to reach the play-offs.”
